We work in a fast-moving industry, where developing and retaining talent is essential to success, so it’s important that we invest in intelligent young people who will grow and drive our business with new ideas further down the line. That’s why we partnered with Manchester Metropolitan University to support apprentices working specifically towards their four-year degree in the Digital & Technology Solutions Apprenticeship programme.
Today, we’re incredibly excited to announce that RealityMine Apprentice Engineer Bruce To and Apprentice Software Engineer George Doru have just completed their four-year course in the Software Engineering pathway!
As apprentices, Bruce and George have also been working full-time with our team, while studying towards a fully accredited Digital & Technology Solutions Degree with Manchester Metropolitan University. Bringing together academic expertise from the University’s Business School, Department of Computing and Mathematics, and Department of Information and Communications, the apprenticeship combines workplace training with a programme focused on IT in business and includes a blend of technology, commercial and project skills.
Furthermore, pathway units and negotiated business projects allow apprentices to study a specialist route in Business Technology (IT Consultant), Software Engineering, Data Analytics or Cyber Security. Bruce and George focused on the Software Engineering pathway.
So, how does the progamme work?
The Degree Apprenticeship includes part-time study over a period of four years, on-site at Manchester Metropolitan University. Delivery utilises a mixture of day release and block teaching equivalent to 33 days per year. During this time, Bruce and George have been able to utilise their new knowledge and skills to make an impact and help our data engineering team with developing software and cutting-edge technologies for the market research industry.
To Bruce and George,
Congratulations to you both on receiving your BSc (Hons) in Digital & Technology Solutions (Software Engineer). We appreciate all your many contributions to the company while working towards your degree, and we couldn’t be more proud!
From all of us at RealityMine
